IHSAN College did not begin as a school; it began as a commitment to a community. Its founders have served their community in education for more than twenty years, and through that work came to see a significant and growing gap in Western Sydney's Muslim community: devout parents seeking – along with formal education – a comprehensive Islamic upbringing for their children at a depth no existing school was designed to provide. A growing cohort of families has been turning to homeschooling to bridge this gap. However, homeschooling without institutional support has struggled to provide the depth of academic instruction these children deserve. Parents should never have to choose between their child's faith and future — yet that was the very choice they faced: either a comprehensive Islamic environment or a rigorous school education.
From its inception, ME Academy — the predecessor of IHSAN College — set out to fill this void. For four years, its tutoring classes have strengthened children's literacy, numeracy and academic foundations while preserving the Islamic upbringing received at home. Cognisant that a few hours of weekly tutoring can only ever be a partial answer, ME Academy has always held a publicly stated vision: to grow “from home-schooling tutoring to a registered school.” IHSAN College is that school — the next chapter of this journey — where rigorous teaching of the NESA curriculum and a supportive Islamic upbringing combine as one education. It has been established as a not-for-profit, funded by interest-free loans from the founders themselves: a service to the community, not a venture.
IHSAN College deeply believes in the liberating power of quality education and aspires to be a beacon of hope for children who might otherwise miss out on formal schooling altogether. We want the next generation of this community's leaders not just to be deeply grounded in their faith but also to be shaped by an exceptional education.
